Come with me to the Melbourne International flower Come with me to the Melbourne International flower and garden show!
In March I headed down to gather inspiration for my own garden, and to bring some ideas back for you, in regards to being water wise but also including medicinal herbs in a small garden and making your garden work for your mood, boosting that dopamine.
The biggest takeaway? You don’t need a big garden, or a separate “herb patch” to make this happen. Even a balcony or a single pot counts
Ways to be water wise in your garden:
• mulch generously to hold moisture in soil
• water deeply and less often, rather than a little every day.
• Choose plants suited to your climate and create microclimates within your garden
• Shape your garden so water flows to where it’s actually needed.
• Try wicking beds which water plants from below
Medicinal and culinary herbs worth weaving in:
• lemon balm for calm and digestion support
• Calendula for lymphatic support, skin health and vulnerary use
• Echinacea is typically used for immune health but you use the root, so it’s good mostly to look at unless you want to dig it all up
• globe artichoke for liver and gallbladder support, plus it’s stunning to look at in bloom
• turmeric and ginger for inflammation and digestion
• borage - generally calming and a the pollinators will thank you
And a bonus to gardening: getting your hands in healthy soil exposes you to microbes that can stimulate serotonin levels, improving your mood.
I came home with a lot of inspiration and ideas, I’ve already included some of these plants into my garden and my next project is underway, building some wicking beds which I will share with you soon.

Update on my book “Natural Menopause Support” plus Update on my book “Natural Menopause Support” plus I’d like your thoughts on a few things 📚🤔
75% of women in Australia experience hot flushes i 75% of women in Australia experience hot flushes in menopause in the early stages and 20-25% of these women classify them as extreme. 40% of women still get hot flushes at 65.
The witch trials weren’t just about fear of women. The witch trials weren’t just about fear of women. In a large part they were about the destruction of women’s knowledge — of healing, of the body, of menopause and reproduction — and the transfer of that authority to a male-dominated medical establishment that has shaped women’s healthcare ever since.
Historian Silvia Federici called this process “primitive accumulation.” The enclosure of land and the burning of healers were, in her argument, two sides of the same historical process. And it didn’t stay in Europe. Colonial powers exported the same framework to the Americas, targeting Indigenous women healers with the same accusations.
This history matters because it explains something about where we are now.
Comment READ and I’ll add you to the waitlist for Natural Menopause Support — I’ve got a lot more discussion about this taking of knowledge and persecution of the minorities in there.
Australia just made history with its first ever na Australia just made history with its first ever national menopause awareness campaign, and I am here for it.
One in four women experience symptoms severe enough to affect daily life. Most arrive at perimenopause without enough information to understand what is happening to them. The government has recognise that, and so have I – which is why I have been working hard on writing a book that provides information and tools for women going through perimenopause and menopause.
✨Natural menopause support✨ – the book, is coming soon. Follow me for more updates or subscribe to my newsletter via the link in bio.
If your partner had a guide of dos and don’t for m If your partner had a guide of dos and don’t for menopause what would it include?
I’m writing a book! I’m taking all of the content I’m writing a book!
I’m taking all of the content that I made when I created @natural_menopause_support ecourse a few years ago and turning it into a print and digital book, with lots of added goodness.
I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner, maybe procrastination, maybe self doubt.
But it’s on the way and I’m pretty excited!
